Clarence (T.C.) was murdered on July 26, 1985, a little over one month after my 11th birthday. He was shot by his own nephew, once in the head, which killed him instantly, and again in the stomach, "just to make sure." He is missed by all.

T.C., I'll always remember when I was very young, and I'd ask you for a penny for the gumball machine. Everytime I see a black, plastic "Goody" comb, I think of you and how I used to play "Barber Shop" with your hair! I'll always remember Maw-maw and Paw-paw's plum tree, and playing with "Sergent," their German shephard, and "Snow Ball," their Siberian husky. I'll always remember the race you and I had with mom one evening, from the lake on the top of the golf course we lived on, all the way back down to the house! You had both hands on your pockets so nothing would fall out - and you STILL beat us both! We must have laughed at the way you were running for an hour afterwards!

Well, 23 yrs later, they've built a developement over that golf course now and there's a fence in the backyard separating our old yard from what used to be the golf course. We had moved from that house for many reasons. One, since it wasn't the same without you there, two, because your nephew got out of prison after serving a measly sentence for murdering you, three, because it was just time for mom to be with her mom and family. I go back to North Carolina every now and then, and I make a special trip just to see that house. Everything has changed - this world has changed. All I have are memories of yesterday regarding you. I'm all grown up, but when I think of you, I still feel like daddy's little girl. I miss you.

Georgia on My Mind was T.C.'s favorite song.

My Favorite Uncle

Yes, gone too soon you were. You will always be in my heart, my favorite uncle. I thank you for all the wonderful memories I made with you. I thank you for every kindness you shared with my mother and the laugh's along the way. I especially thank you for the people you introduced and brought to all your family's life. I am very grateful to you for sending us rocky and cheryl. Although our time together was brief the memories I have of us will always be cherished. I wish you could see your nephew bobby, everytime I look at him, your resemblance is there. So my dear uncle, please know that even though 24 yrs has passed, you are and will always be in all our hearts. Lovingly your niece, valarie
